Introduction

This blog will review the future of sea ice in the Arctic which many authors, such as Serreze et al (2007) and Polyak et al (2010), describe sea-ice cover as the most defining feature of the Arctic Ocean. Sea ice cover waxes and wanes seasonally and changes in extent and thickness on inter annual and longer timescales also. These changes are driven by climate; however affect aspects of climate in themselves.
